Kathryn is married to Peter, who also joined the practice in early 2022.
When they are not working at the firm together, they enjoy hiking, traveling, and
spending time with their dog Watson. After a busy work week, Kathryn refills her
cup by working out, finding creativity with her Cricut machine, and playing intramural
softball and kickball throughout the city.

Lexa Willen Newberry is an experienced family law attorney practicing in Comal, Guadalupe, and Hays counties,
who joined James and Newberry (formerly Wright Reneau & James) in 2022 after practicing in the DFW area for several years.
Her primary focus is on divorces, modifications, original suits affecting parent-child relationships, and adoptions.
Lexa enjoys getting to know her clients personally so they can work together to achieve client goals.
She is very people-oriented and client-focused. She is experienced in negotiating and representing clients in court.
Lexa works with each client to determine which strategy is best for their case,
and their family in the long run and has achieved many favorable results for clients this way.
Lexa grew up in a small town in West Texas.
She attended college at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas where she received her degree in Communication.
She obtained her degree in three years and went on to law school at Texas Tech University School of Law in Lubbock, Texas.
Following law school, Lexa spent her first year in New Braunfels, Texas and practiced family law at the Wright Reneau Law Firm before
moving to Dallas, Texas where she practiced exclusively family law with The Law Offices of Amber Shemesh.
Lexa returned home to New Braunfels in 2022 with her husband and fellow attorney, Jeff Newberry.
She is a member of the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Texas, and the Comal County Bar Association.
In her free time, Lexa enjoys spending time with her family, her miniature dachshunds, Heidi and Harper, traveling, and spending time outdoors.
Jeff Newberry is a civil litigator with James & Newberry.
Prior to joining James & Newberry, Jeff practiced in the Dallas and Austin offices of a large national law firm,
where he represented individuals and businesses in a broad range of civil litigation matters in state and federal courts throughout Texas.
His experience includes cases involving negligence, breach of fiduciary duty, professional liability,
breach of contract, DTPA claims, fraud, conspiracy, and other complex civil disputes.
A New Braunfels native, Jeff now focuses his practice on civil litigation and family law matters in Comal, Guadalupe, Hays, and surrounding counties.
He works closely with clients to understand their objectives and develop practical, results-oriented strategies tailored to the circumstances of each case.
While Jeff is prepared to litigate matters through trial, when necessary, he also recognizes the significant time,
expense, and disruption that litigation can impose and seeks to resolve disputes as efficiently and effectively as possible.
Jeff is licensed to practice law in the State of Texas, is a member of
the Litigation and Family Law Sections of the State Bar of Texas, and a member of the Comal County Bar Association.
